Hi Julian, I have updated the Allow/Deny directives to apache2 2.4 versions, but I am going to leave out the IfModule out.
I haven't received a single bugreport about this failing and I do see a value in apache2 failing to start if you mess your config that you stop serving PHP files. This is better than starting to provide raw sources to the general public without notice.
