Hi, Today I had an issue which might be related to the above report. After noticing that the fan went on maximum speed I found that packagekitd took 100% of the ressources of one CPU core and it used about 1GB of memory.
Shortly after that, it told me that I had packages to upgrade and it stopped using CPU ressources excessively (and finally terminated after some more time). I'm using jessie and upgraded to version 0.8.17-4 of packagekit last week. I'll report again if I notice this behaviour once more and I'd be happy to provide any other information if necessary.
