Package: docker.io
Version: 1.0.0~dfsg1-1
Severity: normal

Dear Maintainers,

As far as I see, most images on the Docker Hub Registry is built for amd64
architecture, while
docker.io package of Debian exists on other architectures like armhf, armel and
i386; on which
the prebuilt images can't be run. (docker run gives "exec format error").

I don't know about the other architectures, but Debian i386 is capable of
running amd64 binaries, if the processor of the system and the kernel running
are both 64 bit.

linux-image-amd64 package is already available in i386 repository and
installing & rebooting with it is enough for docker to run amd64 containers, so
IMHO it is appropriate for docker.io package to recommend/suggest the amd64
capable kernel on i386 and also briefly mention the situation in the
README.Debian.

Thank you very much for your contributions,

Best Regards,
Mert Dirik
