Package: foomatic-filters-ppds
Version: 20050913-1
Severity: wishlist

Hi,

I tried to compare the PPD files provided by the foomatic-filters-ppds package
and the PPD files provided on the linuxprinting.org website. As an example I
chose a printer I happen to use regularly: a Kyocera-FS-9100DN.

So I looked at those files:

  /usr/share/ppd/Kyocera/Kyocera-FS-9100DN-Postscript.ppd.gz

http://www.linuxprinting.org/download/PPD/Kyocera/en/Kyocera_Mita_FS-9100DN_en.ppd

and found out that they have very little in common.

The Debian file is much smaller and contains:

*FileVersion: "1.1"

whereas the linuxprinting.org file seems much more complete and contains:

*FileVersion: "8.2"

Additionally the linuxprinting.org website provided localized PPD files, which
would be nice to have in Debian.
