Hi, the original problem reported basically fixed by itself with the new version (0.48.5), which ships the poppler 0.26.x support patch already. Unfortunately, it seems the new version does not build on Hurd because of some code issue (which I reported upstream [1]). I'm not sure why the other architectures are not FTBFSing because of it, even if getting proper GCC warnings.
