I've eventually found the problem. After setting debug mode, I could see in the log file: 2014/07/22 18:27:32 :: Autoconnecting... 2014/07/22 18:27:32 :: Skipping autoconnect because GUI is open. The important "Skipping autoconnect because GUI is open." message is only present in debug mode, which is rather bad. Now, there's no reason not to autoconnect when the GUI is open.
