Seiko Epson released a new 1.4.1 update to its driver; can you test the 1.4.1-1 version from unstable and see whether it fixes your problem? (Looking at the diff, I'm quite sure it will not though :/ ) Given that I don't own this printer myself, it's quite hard for me to assist here; I'm hereby CC'ing the email address listed as packager of the upstream rpm; let's see if they can assist.
