That's really weird because 5.2.10-3 contains code to trigger the CUPS mechanism to refresh the PPDs on upgrade (the generic cups code equivalent to the gutenprint-specific cups-genppdupdate). I suspect you might have had a specific configuration that made this update fail. How was your printer configured initially? Could you please send the relevant parts of /var/log/dpkg.log and /var/log/apt/history.log to this bugreport?
