Well, I should have looked at the backtrace before asking:

(gdb) backtrace
#0  __memmove_ssse3 () at ../sysdeps/x86_64/multiarch/memcpy-ssse3.S:1785
#1  0x00007ffff27c9d77 in ?? () from
/usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libnvidia-glcore.so.340.24
#2  0x00007ffff27c9e58 in ?? () from
/usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libnvidia-glcore.so.340.24
#3  0x00007ffff69e56bd in ?? () from /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libGL.so.1

So, yeah, it's a known bug in the proprietary nVidia driver, not
fs-uae.

You can verify whether it's the same known problem by starting
fs-uae with executable memory optimizations disabled in the
nVidia driver:

__GL_WRITE_TEXT_SECTION=0 fs-uae

Cheers,
Adrian
