fsck MUST NOT say "***** REBOOT LINUX *****" before completely writing and syncing to disk! Simply kindly say that as the last thing before exiting. Otherwise: the user will assume the system has halted and it is time for him to reboot. Indeed after a few minutes of waiting for a shell prompt back he indeed very much thinks that is what your are trying to tell him. And he reboots. And finds he has scrambled his disks. All because he didn't wait and believed the message. grave -- causes data loss.
