I can't find anything bad in your install.log file.
Please check the following things;
1. Are there any files in /usr/share/xemacs21/site-lisp/gnus? Do
you have *.elc files there?
2. How about running this command?
# dpkg-reconfigure gnus
3. How about reinstalling gnus package?
# apt-get --reinstall install gnus
