Package: get-iplayer
Version: 2.86-1
Severity: wishlist

get-iplayer uses the same directory (~/.get_iplayer/) to store both
the user configuration file, the programme download history and the
cache of available programmes (the *.cache files).

As the cache files are automatically generated and their contents
changes regularly, it makes sense for the user to exclude them when
making backups. On the other hand, users will probably want to backup
their configuration files and download history.

It would help if get-iplayer allowed storing these files in
separate directories. Ideally, the cache should be stored in a
standard location for cache files; either a user-owned subdirectory of
/var/tmp/ or the $XDG_CACHE_HOME directory defined in the XDG Base
Directory Specification (usually ~/.cache/)
