Thanks for your patch and upstream report.
I have tried tests applied patches with python-django and
python3-django 1.7~c3-1, and 1.6.6-1,
these does not occur fails.
I think a good idea to apply your patches to current
version(django-guardian 1.2.4) because there is also a dependency of
django restframework.
