the ejabberd pam module does not provide remote host information to pam, making all connection appear to be non-networked. E.g. pam_access run with debug option gives Sep 19 15:23:55 Redstar epam: pam_access(ejabberd:auth): cannot determine tty or remote hostname, using service ejabberd Needles to say that all jabber connections are networked (even only via localhost), and the remote host is interested for individual authentication handling.
