some time ago the display of my 12"-PowerBook startet to flicker while I was tyoing on the keyboard. It is most prominent on black-on-white text areas. Shortly after that the problem was discussed on the debian-ppc ML and and the problem was traced back to xscreensaver. Installing a version older than 4.23 fixes the issue as does stopping xscreensaver.
