Subject: libnss-ldap: only root sees ldap passwd entries
Followup-For: Bug #307586
Package: libnss-ldap
Version: 238-1.1

I am also seeing the bug where only root can see the LDAP passwd
entries. Regular users only see the local /etc/passwd entries.

Gentoo does not have this problem. Nor does it have the stalls reported
in Bug#277640. They link against the regular ldap libs and not the
reentrant ldap libs.

Here's the Gentoo linkage:

# ldd  /lib/libnss_ldap-2.3.5.so
        linux-gate.so.1 =>  (0xffffe000)
        libldap-2.2.so.7 => /usr/lib/libldap-2.2.so.7 (0xb7f9d000)
        liblber-2.2.so.7 => /usr/lib/liblber-2.2.so.7 (0xb7f90000)
        libdl.so.2 => /lib/libdl.so.2 (0xb7f8c000)
        libnsl.so.1 => /lib/libnsl.so.1 (0xb7f79000)
        libresolv.so.2 => /lib/libresolv.so.2 (0xb7f67000)
        libc.so.6 => /lib/libc.so.6 (0xb7e5c000)
        libssl.so.0.9.7 => /usr/lib/libssl.so.0.9.7 (0xb7e2f000)
        libcrypto.so.0.9.7 => /usr/lib/libcrypto.so.0.9.7 (0xb7d40000)
        /lib/ld-linux.so.2 (0x80000000)

Here's the Debian linkage:

# ldd /lib/libnss_ldap-2.3.5.so
        linux-gate.so.1 =>  (0xffffe000)
        libldap_r.so.2 => /usr/lib/libldap_r.so.2 (0xb7f09000)

        libpthread.so.0 => /lib/tls/libpthread.so.0 (0xb7ce3000)
        /lib/ld-linux.so.2 (0x80000000)
        libtasn1.so.2 => /usr/lib/libtasn1.so.2 (0xb7cd2000)
        libgcrypt.so.11 => /usr/lib/libgcrypt.so.11 (0xb7c84000)
        libgpg-error.so.0 => /usr/lib/libgpg-error.so.0 (0xb7c80000)
        libz.so.1 => /usr/lib/libz.so.1 (0xb7c6c000)

Are we sure the reentrant libs are the correct one?
