/usr/share/icons/gnome/icon-theme.cache has multiplied its size by 500 on two of the 25 machines. The current sizes for the first and the second one are the result of trying "dpkg-reconfigure gnome-icon-theme" on those machines. During the upgrade, some additional packages may be installed (which, I admit, could make the cache file to be bigger), but in either case, the final set of packages is exactly the same on all the computers, so this discrepancy in file sizes does not seem to be justified.
