The problem is the same as in the origina description.
A fresh installation today: 1- base system (Debian installer B1 on i386) and reboot 2- added contrib and non-free repositories 3- update & upgrade 4- apt-get install task-lxde-desktop After login no panel is visible but lxpanel process is running.
