Hi, i tested the current xbmc package in unstable 13.2+dfsg1-2. Some videos play, some don't. I couldn't see a reason for that. In my tests it was like 50:50. All files are mkv with x264 video.
The computer has a radeon GPU: 00:01.0 VGA compatible controller: Advanced Micro Devices, Inc.
