found 750361 37.0.2062.120-2 thanks I've been testing other older versions and 37.0.2062.120-2 and later don't run on PIII.
However the 37.0.2062.120-1~deb7u1 version on stable security does work without any problem. Earlier versions like 36.0.1985.103-1 also seem to run ok. Hope this helps to identify the problem.
