There are definitely plans to update leiningen, but I am not sure when I (or anybody else) will get around to do that. AFAICT this won't happen in time for the freeze, but I would still very much like to get leiningen 2 into Debian, so that the remaining dependencies will have to be packaged and bugs fixed.
