There is same problem for Czech users, no hyphenation possible at all. I found a workaround which should work for Spanish too but this should be somehow resolved. OpenOffice is probably using different library/dictionaries because hyphenation works ok there.
Workaround for Czech language (under root): apt-get install liblouis-data cp /usr/share/liblouis/tables/hyph_cs_CZ.dic /usr/share/hyphen/hyph_cs.dic For Spanish just use hyph_es_ES.dic as source and hyph_es.dic or likewise for other languages that don't have hyphen- package. Beware that (at least for Czech) file name have to be hyph_cs.dic not hyph_cs_CZ.dic (not sure why). In later case it will appear in Scribus as available language but doesn't work. -- Kepi
