The upstream project (http://gna.org/projects/qemulaunch/) has been
unmaintained for over 7 years and the reported bugs are mostly
bit-rot. I recently became maintainer and intend to fix the bugs,
enhance the product and also become Debian Maintainer for the package.
This bug is the most serious, resulting in qemu-launcher being removed
from Debian Jessie and being noted in the how-can-i-help package.
This commit fixes the bug and documents the cause (a broken
dependency) in comments. See:

I plan to commit a few more changes to improve the 1.7.4 version and
then tag it as a 1.7.5 release, after which I plan to also updating
the 1.8.0-pre0 version. Working on this part time, it might take a
few week altogether.
