Package: openssh-server Version: 1:6.7p1-2 Severity: important When connecting to a remote host running openssh-server via SSH, the server recently started skipping the 'uname' stanza that is normally seen at the top of the MOTD upon login.
What I get when connecting via SSH: $ ssh geode.lan The programs included with the Debian GNU/Linux system are free software; the exact distribution terms for each program are described in the individual files in /usr/share/doc/*/copyright. Debian GNU/Linux comes with ABSOLUTELY NO WARRANTY, to the extent permitted by applicable law. Last login: Wed Nov 5 11:53:37 2014 from suomi.lan $ What I get using 'login' on the same host: $ sudo login geode login: ******** Password: Last login: Thu Nov 6 11:49:42 EET 2014 on pts/0 Linux geode 3.16-3-486 #1 Debian 3.16.5-1 (2014-10-10) i586 The programs included with the Debian GNU/Linux system are free software; the exact distribution terms for each program are described in the individual files in /usr/share/doc/*/copyright. Debian GNU/Linux comes with ABSOLUTELY NO WARRANTY, to the extent permitted by applicable law. $ Additionally, the order of the MOTD components differs from what would be seen using 'login': openssh-server displays the MOTD as uname+message+lastlogin, while 'login' displays it as lastlogin+uname+message. It would be desirable for these to be harmonized. :) -- System Information: Debian Release: jessie/sid APT prefers testing APT policy: (1001, 'testing'), (1001, 'oldstable') Architecture: i386 (i686) Kernel: Linux 3.16-3-686-pae (SMP w/1 CPU core) Locale: LANG=fi_FI.utf8, LC_CTYPE=fi_FI.utf8 (charmap=UTF-8) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/dash Versions of packages openssh-server depends on: ii adduser 3.113+nmu3 ii debconf [debconf-2.0] 1.5.53 ii dpkg 1.17.21 ii init-system-helpers 1.21 ii libc6 2.19-12 ii libcomerr2 1.42.12-1 ii libgssapi-krb5-2 1.12.1+dfsg-11 ii libkrb5-3 1.12.1+dfsg-11 ii libpam-modules 1.1.8-3.1 ii libpam-runtime 1.1.8-3.1 ii libpam0g 1.1.8-3.1 ii libselinux1 2.3-2 ii libssl1.0.0 1.0.1j-1 ii libwrap0 7.6.q-25 ii lsb-base 4.1+Debian13+nmu1 ii openssh-client 1:6.7p1-2 ii openssh-sftp-server 1:6.7p1-2 ii procps 2:3.3.9-8 ii zlib1g 1:1.2.8.dfsg-2 Versions of packages openssh-server recommends: ii ncurses-term 5.9+20140913-1 ii xauth 1:1.0.9-1 Versions of packages openssh-server suggests: pn molly-guard <none> pn monkeysphere <none> pn rssh <none> pn ssh-askpass <none> pn ufw <none> -- debconf information: ssh/vulnerable_host_keys: * ssh/use_old_init_script: true * openssh-server/permit-root-login: false ssh/encrypted_host_key_but_no_keygen: ssh/disable_cr_auth: false -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-bugs-dist-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of "unsubscribe".
