Further inspection of [1] suggests that if the gdisk short codes are loosely based on MBR type codes, e800 or 83e8 (reflecting the e8 code on that page) might be better for LUKS partitions. (I'd prefer the latter aesthetically, to group more of the Linux types together, but the former would be more consistent with the presence of fd00. It's a bit unfortunate that e8 and 8e would be so easy to mistype as each other, too, though...)
