Hey Matt, Thank you for the report. However I was aware of this, and this isn't a googleearth-package bug as it's the dpkg that doesn't resolve dependencies before installing a package.
If you i.e use gdebi which besides installing packages also resolves and installs its dependencies. Then the problem you encountered won't occur.
