Thanks. The session bus' timeouts are not relevant to the system bus,
which is what's breaking for you.
The system bus' default timeouts are hard-coded inside dbus-daemon, and
rarely overridden, so if you haven't taken steps to alter them (which
you don't seem to have done), they're at defaults. I reduced the
hard-coded default in 1.8.8 for CVE-2014-3639.
