Bug#765109: fglrx-driver: Black screen after xorg startup

On Debian Jessie, I have the exact same issue with fglrx_dri.so not found in the above mentioned locations. Result is a blank screen.
Manual symlinking gets rid of the EE messages in Xorg.0.log, but blank screen remains. 

I'm forced to go back to Intel CPU graphics.

My card: ATI Radeon HD 7750
