Package: libcupt3-0 Version: 2.8.4 Severity: minor During today's upgrade I noticed install-info was going to be upgraded and I remembered that package was pretty much unneeded in most cases. I decided to check whether that was the case on my system:
cupt> why install-info cgdb 0.6.7-2^installed: Depends: dpkg (>= 1.15.4) | install-info cupt> purge install-info Building the package cache... Initializing package resolver and worker... Scheduling requested actions... Resolving possible unmet dependencies... The following packages will be purged: info install-info(a) Action summary: 1 manually installed and 1 automatically installed packages will be purged Need to get 0B/0B of archives. After unpacking 615KiB will be freed. Do you want to continue? [y/N/q/a/rc/?] q Abandoned or no more solutions. Since info has a direct Depends relationship on install-info, I would expect that to be reported rather than the alternative relationship that cgdb has, especially since cgdb's primary alternative (dpkg >= 1.15.4) is satisfied. -- System Information: Debian Release: 8.0 APT prefers unstable APT policy: (500, 'unstable'), (200, 'experimental') Architecture: i386 (i686) Kernel: Linux 3.16.0-4-586 Locale: LANG=en_US.UTF-8, LC_CTYPE=en_US.UTF-8 (charmap=UTF-8) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/dash Init: systemd (via /run/systemd/system) Versions of packages libcupt3-0 depends on: ii libc6 2.19-13 ii libcupt-common 2.8.4 ii libgcc1 1:4.9.2-5 ii libgcrypt20 1.6.2-4+b1 ii libstdc++6 4.9.2-5 Versions of packages libcupt3-0 recommends: ii bzip2 1.0.6-7+b1 ii ed 1.10-2 ii gpgv 1.4.18-6 ii libcupt3-0-downloadmethod-curl 2.8.4 Versions of packages libcupt3-0 suggests: ii cupt 2.8.4 pn debdelta <none> ii dpkg-dev 1.17.22 pn dpkg-repack <none> ii xz-utils [lzma] 5.1.1alpha+20120614-2+b2 -- no debconf information -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-bugs-dist-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of "unsubscribe".
