Hello. It seems I have the same problem with Jessie here. USB sticks detected successfully, but an Android phone (in mass storage mode) not. It had stopped working after upgrade from squeeze, I think.
I can help my laptop to show a USB volume's icon on my XFCE desktop by executing "fdisk -l /dev/sdb" as root. My dmesg's output: [253727.639682] usb 2-1.1: new high-speed USB device number 31 using ehci-pci [253727.733208] usb 2-1.1: New USB device found, idVendor=0bb4, idProduct=0001 [253727.733218] usb 2-1.1: New USB device strings: Mfr=2, Product=3, SerialNumber=4 [253727.733223] usb 2-1.1: Product: JY-G3 [253727.733227] usb 2-1.1: Manufacturer: MediaTek [253727.733231] usb 2-1.1: SerialNumber: 0123456789ABCDEF [253727.734049] usb-storage 2-1.1:1.0: USB Mass Storage device detected [253727.734242] scsi17 : usb-storage 2-1.1:1.0 [253728.732069] scsi 17:0:0:0: Direct-Access Linux File-CD Gadget 0000 PQ: 0 ANSI: 2 [253728.732778] sd 17:0:0:0: Attached scsi generic sg1 type 0 [253728.735810] sd 17:0:0:0: [sdb] Attached SCSI removable disk // Nothing more until fdisk -l /dev/sdb is executed. // but when it is...
