Package: file Version: 1:5.20-2 Severity: important Dear Maintainer, I would like to cross build some package for armhf (I'm on a x86_64 platform) and I need libmagic1:armhf for this but the file '/usr/share/file/magic.mgc' is different between those two architectures, making it impossible to install (unless I remove libmagic1:amd64 but some very important packages relies on it).
If we refer to https://wiki.debian.org/Multiarch/Implementation#What_does_the_end_result_look_like.3F, specially the line "Note that any files in /usr/share or /etc must be byte-for- byte identical across architectures, otherwise file conflicts will result! ", it seems that it is not respected here. So now, what is it possible to do for making it right? Regards, Manuel VIVES P.S: This bug looks like it has been fixed here: https://bugs.debian.org/cgi- bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=670006 but there is no trace of the correction in the package P.P.S: The bug https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=754119 looks similar, but paths are not the same -- System Information: Debian Release: 8.0 APT prefers testing-updates APT policy: (500, 'testing-updates'), (500, 'testing') Architecture: amd64 (x86_64) Foreign Architectures: armhf Kernel: Linux 3.16-2-amd64 (SMP w/16 CPU cores) Locale: LANG=en_US.UTF-8, LC_CTYPE=fr_FR.UTF-8 (charmap=UTF-8) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/dash Init: systemd (via /run/systemd/system) Versions of packages libmagic1 depends on: ii libc6 2.19-13 ii multiarch-support 2.19-13 ii zlib1g 1:1.2.8.dfsg-2+b1 libmagic1 recommends no packages.
