The version in wheezy-backports (listed above) of auctex depends upon emacsen-common 2.0.8, but only 2.0.5 is available in wheezy and no version is available in wheezy-backports. I can build the wheezy-backports source-package locally if I change the minimum required version of emacsen-common to 2.0.5, and it works fine. Looking at the changelog, this appears to have been changed in version 11.87-2 of the package, but not addressed by the backport. The changelog message says "Update Debian Emacs policy support to emacsen-common 2.0.8".
