I compiled lazarus this way: svn co http://svn.freepascal.org/svn/lazarus/trunk lazarus cd lazarus make clean bigide
then started it by: ./lazarus I understand that the debian project can hardly support all custom builds but this here is a compiler. It fails to handle the main project lazarus obviously. What use would the compiler have then?
