Have you talked with upstream about the name collision?
No, I haven't. OpenBSD is definitely not going to change the name,

How do you know? In any case, rename is not the only possible positive outcome of talking to upstream. Another possibilities are: 1) Upstream expresses what is their preferred alternative name (even though they don't intent to rename it themselves). 2) Upstream adapts their build system so that renaming doesn't require heavy patching.

Typos in upstream code:
equivilent -> equivalent
ouput -> output
Do these really have to be fixed?

No, Debian is a volunteer project. You don't have to do anything if you don't want to. :-)

They won't be visible to the user,

Well, source packages are our products, too...

and it's likely to annoy upstream more than anything.

Huh...

Anyway, I see you got another reviewer, so now I'm going to back off.
