No specific reason. Sorry, this should be fixed for a long time.
I just applied the patch to a local git repository only to notice that I
can't push it to git.debian.org because I can't access my private key as
my desktop system is offline due to renovation in our flat. :-(
Let me see if I can rebuild my ccid drivers to work with my card reader
again. I unfortunately bought a reader that needs this patch:
