Package: www.debian.org Severity: normal Hi!
In the CD/faq page [1], the instructions for copying the image onto the USB stick ("How do I write a CD image to a USB flash drive?") are not consistent with the instructions in the installation guide [2]. While dd certainly does work, it has never been the documented method to copy the image to a USB stick; the installation guide uses cp. Just recommending `cp <file> <device>` and ditching the bs=4M bullet point offers a simpler and less error prone command. cheers Stuart [1] https://www.debian.org/CD/faq/ [2] https://www.debian.org/releases/jessie/amd64/ch04s03.html.en -- System Information: Debian Release: 8.0 APT prefers testing-updates APT policy: (550, 'testing-updates'), (550, 'testing'), (60, 'unstable') Architecture: amd64 (x86_64) Foreign Architectures: i386 Kernel: Linux 3.16.0-4-amd64 (SMP w/4 CPU cores) Locale: LANG=en_AU.UTF-8, LC_CTYPE=en_AU.UTF-8 (charmap=UTF-8) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/dash Init: systemd (via /run/systemd/system) -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-bugs-dist-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of "unsubscribe".
