The original report that:

    #include <netinet/in.h>
    is also needed in order to manipulate struct sockaddr.

is definitely wrong.

However, regarding Joey's comments: I have added some new text 
to the bind.2 page which contains "more information
on how to use the struct sockaddr and determine the socklen_t"
and also says more about the sockaddr structure.

The new text will be in 2.18.
