Unless the feature you are requesting is already present in MATE upstream and it's just an issue of Debian not configuring it, you should actually report this feature request to the upstream bug tracker. In the end, Debian maintainers will just forward your bug upstream which means an additional delay. Please always report bugs upstream unless they are Debian-specific. Adrian -- .''`.
