I am aware of this, but it was too late to get it into jessie[1].

I suppose I could do that. My plan is to upload it to unstable once
jessie is (pretty much...) out of the door, though (and then, once it
migrates to testing, I might be persuaded to provide a more recent
package on backports.debian.org).

I'm a bit busy still with other things as well, but beyond that...

[1] strictly speaking it wasn't when that patch was written, but Real
    Life intervened. Sorry 'bout that.
