BTW, a conflict would not have been a good idea because some users on a system might still want emacs-goodies-el used with another version of Emacs, or the same user might want other bits of emacs-goodies-el. I skip byte-compilation for files that are not compatible with a certain flavour. This includes newsticker.el for emacs-snapshot since it has it's own version. You are right.
