Package: wnpp Severity: wishlist * Package name : ipfs Version : 0.2.3 Upstream Author : Juan Batiz-Benet <j...@benet.ai> * URL : http://ipfs.io/ * License : MIT (Expat) Programming Lang: Go Description : content-addressed global distributed file system
Ipfs is a global, versioned, peer-to-peer filesystem. It combines good ideas from Git, BitTorrent, Kademlia, SFS, and the Web. It is like a single bittorrent swarm, exchanging git objects. IPFS provides an interface as simple as the HTTP web, but with permanence built in. You can also mount the world at /ipfs. Ipfs is a really interesting project which can be compared to btsync (proprietary), telehash or git-annex. I haven't personnally used it (yet?) but I am very interested in its development. I know that at least Joeyh has tried it out here: http://git-annex.branchable.com/devblog/day_262__ipfs/ This specific WNPP would probably involve packaging the go implementation, which seems the most complete: https://github.com/jbenet/go-ipfs/ I may try to package it, but I would need help at least to figure out the go part, of which I am not very familiar with. Ideally, some go team would pick it up instead of me. -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-bugs-dist-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of "unsubscribe". Trouble?
