This is reproducable in this way. I have to say, that my terminal is using latin1 locale (as you could see below). But that was never a problem. I am also able to edit a task and input »Ü« or »ö«. But I am not able to add it on the commandline. The output is always correct. (Apart the fact that task has problems with displaying colored lines with multibyte characters in the correct width.
