Running the following command produces the given error: $ echo test | mail -b [email protected] -s test mail: You must specify direct recipients with -t when -s, -c, or -b is used bsd-mailx does not have a -t option. I believe the suggestion to use -t was introduced with the fix for bug #327809, which was to fix a previously confusing but correct error message.
