Today I installed Wheezy and then did a distribution upgrade to Jessie without issue. So, I think the problem I was having was strictly related to the installation files at the link in my previous message. BTW, I tried the updated files as of Mar 24, 2015 and ran into the same issue. It's a fairly easy matter to duplicate this issue if required, but as I'm now on Jessie, I probably won't hit this again. But I'm happy to investigate this further if required.
