Hm... it doesn't happen here. After hitting C-g, the backup file is
still there, and `buffer-backed-up' is still nil in the `bar' buffer.

That's how it ought to be, yes. And if you cannot reproduce the
problem, that explains why upstream didn't bother (and probably filed
my report under "junk" ;-)).

Did you really try this with emacs-snapshot, or with your own
installation of Emacs? I notice that you elided the reportbug info.

It's my own installation only insofar as I habitually built from
source (I did this with every weekly snapshot in the last four
months), but I didn't change anything. Here is the output of
report-emacs-bug in the situation after quitting:

I noticed that I get another file in this situation, a dangling
symbolic link:

.#bar -> [EMAIL PROTECTED]:1134898377

Any idea how that comes and what it means? Surely [EMAIL PROTECTED]
is <user>@<hostname>.<emacs-pid>, but I don't know the meaning of the
the last number, which is always the same.

I will install your official binary emacs-snapshot packages and see if
the problem still appears. Anyway, it seems that I will have to debug
it myself if other people don't see it.

Regards,

Sven
