You might like to seek for "Files-Excluded" in man uscan. Its a new
feature (initialised by me - so I'm biased) to normalise aout half of
the manually written get-orig-source targets that are just removing
files from the original tarball to clean the source from files with
non-free licenses, binary chunks etc.
You can try to reproduce the issue by doing:
$ svn export
svn://anonscm.debian.org/debian-med/trunk/packages/plastimatch/trunk/
$ cd trunk
$ debian/rules get-orig-source
