By default, when installed on a server with more than one network
interface, apcupsd opens up port 3551 to everybody. This is probably
not what sysadmins want typically and I suggest changing the default
configuration (/etc/apcupsd/apcupsd.conf) to:

i don't agree with you.
if u need nisip then you need to make your server contact other client
so there's the need to make it listen on all interfaces.
Otherwise you can safely turn it off, but you always need to look to the
configuration file to make it work.
Please be aware also of the fact that apcupsd by default doesn't start
because you have to edit init.d files.
That was done also to avoid people having it running without being aware
of the fact that it was open on all interfaces.
