Thanks for your bug report. My intention was to look at this post-Jessie
(= now?) and Martin Pitt just reminded me about this bug today.

Not enabling this functionality was totally unintentional, so thanks
for pointing it out.

Adding libudev-dev as a build-dependency causes one minor issue though,
util-linux grows a dependency on libudev1 which has lower priority.
(util-linux => priority required, libudev1 => priority important.)
AFAIK this isn't really a technical issue anymore, but still a
policy violation (until policy has been fixed? it hasn't already, has it?).
(I also haven't looked at how it affects the udeb side.)

Maybe I shouldn't worry about this too much, but it'd still be nice
if someone could help convince me that this change is totally safe.
I'll postpone this for now because of lack of time to focus on this,
so please poke me to remind me to look again later.... Hopefully
we know more details by then. Keep the bug report posted on any
findings.
