Thanks for your response and clarification, that PID is not necessarily
needed with systemd.

Monitoring the service has been one usecase. There are surely other ways
to do that, but an existing PID-File is one more option.

But mainly it's for consistency reasons. If I'm able to set a PID (or
any option) in the config file I assume that the settings take effect.
