Hi! Thanks for pushing this! I think it can wait until there's some "real" change. Since currently, as I understand it, the metadata isn't automatically generated from the APT repos (I think there is some dak patches for that in the works). So, currently in gnome-software you can basically only search for already installed applications as it seems.
